What we do

The Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) provides core education for students who are unable to study appropriately in a mainstream environment. Students are taught in a small group setting which allows individual needs to be identified and enables the correct support or intervention to be provided.
The core curriculum comprises of English, Maths, Science, ICT and PHSCE. Each subject is studied to GCSE level or where appropriate, an alternative accredited qualification will be studied. A further two subjects can be taken at our Options Centre; students choose two of Art, Childcare, Design & Technology, Food Tech and Sport. Vocational qualifications can also be gained at our training provider partners.
Routes into the PRU are through either permanent exclusion, in year fair access requests or alternative provision placement. We liaise with and send feedback to the home school who are charged for this service.
The PRU is a supportive environment and allows students a fresh start. Additional Therapy can be provided where appropriate to enable our students deal with any circumstances that have been a barrier to education in the past and build self-esteem.
To ensure students are successful post 16; support is provided in PSHCE to find appropriate post 16 placements and post 16 mentors are available to support with the transition to these.
Our Aim is to support and strengthen our students to ensure they are successful in all aspects of their lives!
