For the 12th consecutive year, Junction 16 will continue to offer a robust and consistent quality assurance for alternative provision in the city (recognised in our most recent Ofsted in May 2016). We remain extremely proud of our services and the support we provide that is valued by schools and young people who access it.

 

Following an agreement with the LA to change our previous tender process, we have just gone through the first round of a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) to create a brand new framework of providers available for you to utilise. This new way of working has ensured we maintain the rigorous checks and submissions that a provider has to go through to be accepted onto the framework, but also allows for more flexibility, competition and choice in terms of quality Alternative Provision.

 

Any work to be commissioned will be offered to all providers on the framework so a best fit for the student or group can be found within the remit of the referrer. Any new providers can join throughout the initial 7-year term, as long as they successfully go through the same checks and submissions as all other approved providers. There are 4 rounds of application throughout any calendar year and the advert is written to attract a variety of alternative providers who can offer Vocational, SEND, Full-time, KS1 – KS4 or Therapeutic provision.

 

Kingsmead School will continue to commission KS4 vocational provision, on behalf of the city. We do this on your behalf to secure places that can be requested individually on a flexible, ad hoc basis, thus reducing the overall cost of placements.

 

In addition, you will find information on all other services and courses that can be commissioned discretely to suit the needs of your students and school. This includes one to one bespoke packages, therapy, virtual learning and KS3 vocational enrichment courses

 

Understanding the importance of vocational outcomes, we continue to consult with providers on their realistic accreditation offer. Progress 8 outcomes can sometimes be catered for but in general, providers are keen to ensure they meet DfE guidelines;

Quality Assurance of alternative provision remains a priority.  We carry out lesson observations and quality visits for all providers; we offer appropriate training to them throughout the year; we quality assure and feedback to schools regularly; we ensure Ofsted compliance for all provisions we support; we offer mentor support to each individual and a school link to ensure good communication and liaison. Our work with bordering local authorities continues and has developed a consistent assessment tool to measure excellence in alternative provision. The tool inspires them to achieve and maintain the standards required for Outstanding Alternative Provision.

 

We maintain excellent relationships with the young people, parents or carers, schools and providers who work with us and will continue to strive to provide the highest quality, supportive service, to all those who access it.
